Join us for not one, but TWO adventures and TWO full meals! A sternwheeler ride & an outdoor safari & plenty of good food & fun! Relax and enjoy the soothing sounds of the paddlewheel as the group cruises on the Muskingum River on our private charter. Moored in Zanesville, the Lorena Sternwheeler offers a relaxed and pleasant ride through wide waters and along scenic woodlands. The Captain will provide a narrative of the sites as we roll down the river on this vessel. Then we’ll head for The Wilds where a deli buffet lunch will be served before we begin the next adventure.
Hop on the open-air safari bus at The Wilds (dress for the weather) to tour one of the world’s largest and most innovative conservation centers. Knowledgeable guides will take us through open-range animal areas, where we’ll see rhinos, giraffes and many other rare and endangered animals roaming in large, natural settings. Explore, learn, and relax while you observe the wildlife around you. Safari tour is approximately 2+ hours long. We’ll have a few minutes at the Wilds’ Gift Market or a stroll through the Wilds’ Butterfly Habitat before departure.
As we head for home, the last treat – a full buffet at Schmidt’s Restaurant and Sausage House in Columbus. A great selection of American food and a few of their German specialties will be on the buffet, along with salad, rolls and oh yes … mini cream puffs for dessert! This will be a long day, but you’ll have some quiet time on the bus while we travel so should also be an “easy paced” day. Limited walking.
